Fast-expanding Fleet Assist moves into new market sector with days rental signing

Fleet Assist, the leading supply chain management specialist for the UK fleet, leasing and rental industry, has won a new contract with Days Rental.

The development signals Fleet Assist’s move into the UK daily rental market and marks a natural extension from its contract hire and leasing segment heartland.

Fast-expanding Days Rental, a sister company to long-established Fleet Assist customer Days Fleet, operates a growing fleet presently in excess of 5,000 vehicles.

Under the terms of the three-year contract, Days Rental will use Fleet Assist’s nationwide network of more than 5,000 garages to undertake service, maintenance and repair (SMR) work on vehicles supplied to customers across the UK. Additionally, Days Rental will use Fleet Assist to provide a vehicle service booking facility to customers thus directing work towards the network.

Since 2009 Days Rental has experienced year-on-year growth of 10-15% and has expanded its customer base UK-wide from its South and West Wales heartland. The business presently operates from 10 rental locations with the most recent outlets opening in Avonmouth and Exeter with further new outlets in the pipeline.

Days Rental, operates a predominantly commercial vehicle fleet comprising vans, tippers and high access lifts as well as cars, 4x4s, minibuses, disabled vehicles and motorhomes. Flexible hire periods range from just one day to 36 months.

Both Days Rental and Days Fleet are members of the Days Motor Group, a ‘Wales Top 20’ company. Founded in 1926, it is one of the largest motor groups in the Principality, employing approximately 600 people at several sites throughout South Wales and England.

Mike McCarry, managing director, Days Rental, said: “The company’s expansion outside of South and West Wales necessitated the requirement for a nationwide vehicle SMR function.

Days Fleet is a long-established user of the Fleet Assist network and continues to have an excellent service experience. Against that background, it made sense for Days Rental to also sign-up to use the Fleet Assist network as well as its service booking facility.

Among the many attractions of using the Fleet Assist network are the service level agreements in place with all network garages that ensure our customers will receive the same level of support across the UK. That commitment gave us the confidence that our vehicles would be maintained in accordance with our own high standards.”

Mr McCarry added: “The quality of vehicles provided to customers and the service levels we deliver underpin the sustained growth that Days Rental has experienced in recent years. The Fleet Assist network and the service level agreements already in place with garages meet our own high-level requirements.”

Furthermore, sophisticated easy to use business intelligence reporting provides Fleet Assist’s customers with the ability to spot trends and drill right down to individual transactions if required.

Fleet Assist was launched more than a decade ago and has expanded to the extent that it has business partnerships with more than 30 contract hire and leasing companies collectively operating more than 790,000 vehicles. They benefit from a national network of service outlets without the cost and challenges of setting up and managing such an operation themselves as well as a range of other services.

Vincent St Claire, managing director, Fleet Assist, said: “Fleet Assist has a long-established and hugely successful track record in delivering SMR solutions to the contract hire and leasing sector.

We are delighted to have Days Rental as the first in this segment to join our customer community and enjoy the benefits of Fleet Assist’s class-leading network management product which includes access to our award-winning Atlas system.

Over the years Days Fleet and its customers have continually benefitted from the initiatives Fleet Assist has introduced and we look forward to an equally long and successful partnership with Days Rental.”

Fleet Assist continues to enjoy a 13-year partnership with Days Fleet, which manages more than 9,000 company cars and vans. One of the UK’s leading independent vehicle leasing and fleet management companies, it uses Fleet Assist’s nationwide garage network to undertake SMR work on vehicles supplied to customers across the UK. A vehicle service booking facility is also provided to Days Fleet customers.
